What exists today

What is built

These run in development builds. Nothing is public yet.

  1. 01An authoritative game server, with the rules in one shared engine that the server and the game both run.
  2. 02Yaba neighbourhood layouts, a danfo bus and NEPA poles.
  3. 03Power cuts: NEPA takes the light, and a generator brings it back while the fuel lasts.

Fig. 2 · The system

One set of rules, in two places.

The server decides what happens. The rules live in one Rust crate that both the server and the game compile, so they never disagree about them.

Writing about Gbege

  1. Power cuts as a game mechanic in Gbege

How Gbege turns NEPA taking the light into a rule of the game. Three power states, a generator that runs on litres, and a clock the server and the game agree on.
